23 Weeks

Another week gone, another week closer!  I'm definitely feeling pregnant now!  The fingers are starting to swell, the kiddo is going crazy in there, and the planning is in full swing.  I'm good with the last two - the first one, however, is pissing me off.

We've had this chair for quite a while.  I was baby dreaming past spring and found this beauty on Craigslist.  It was $50 at the Raleigh Flea Market so we went down, had a seat on it, and lugged it through the flea market to the car.  Once inside the house, it just sat and sat and sat in the empty second bedroom until we had something to start turning that room into.

My plan was to turn it into a rocking chair.  I've been thinking for a good 9 months about how to put rockers on this thing...and who did I rope into it?  Gramma Candy!  If anyone can figure it out, she can!

This Sunday had some awesome weather so they came over to help Jessica lug it down the stairs and over to the Walter's house we went.  Jessica had to study aaaaaall day, as usual, so she stayed behind.

All was going well and we worked really hard.  Dad helped bring it over to the house and he and Jess lugged it up to the third floor.  Then Jessica sat in it.  Yeah, so Jessica is really short...with little short legs.  Aaaand she couldn't reach the ground to make the chair rock.  Oops.  

So today was spent hacking off the legs and reattaching the rockers...sanding...painting...and then hemming the little skirt on the bottom.  And the best part is - The Mamacita (the little mama) can reach the floor.

How far along:  23 weeks today

Total weight gain:  +10.4...I started weighing myself at work on Mondays just to keep track.  I don't like surprises with my bank account and surprises with the scale!

Maternity clothes:  Yup

Symptoms:  I started having Braxton Hicks contractions today which is pretty weird.  They don't hurt at all but my belly gets rock hard and a funny shape.  I hear that's normal but I still think like it's a little too early.  

Stretch marks:  None yet

Sleep:  Sleep is goooood

Best moment of this week:  Finishing the rocking chair, the first time.  Not such a high moment after someone couldn't touch the ground... 

What's new this week:  The baby can feel me dancing apparently so I better get shakin'!  Just more than 11 inches and weighs over 1 pound.  His blood vessels in his lungs are developing and preparing for breathing.  And he can hear loud noises from the outside world - the dogs have been saying hi often...to the other dogs they hear outside, not the baby.  We're hoping he gets sensitized to them and won't freak out when they bark.

Miss anything:  Not really, feeling pretty good!

Movement:  Holy smokes yes.  I made a little video of my belly with him kicking - He's moving around like a little jumping bean in there!

Food cravings:  Nothing too specific this week.  The milk consumption has simmered down a little bit.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope

Gender:  Still a boy

Belly button in or out:  In

Wedding rings on or off:  Weeeeell, they're starting to get uncomfortable

Happy or moody most of the time:  I'd say 75% happy, 25% grumpy
