Week 8

So.  Growing a baby is exhausting.  Combo that with work and work and Thanksgiving...this momma is wiped out!  Short post tonight - I almost fell asleep standing up waiting for the dogs to go potty...


How far along:  8 weeks and 1 day

Total weight gain: I haven't weighed.  Post Thanksgiving weigh in?  No thanks.

Maternity clothes: No

Symptoms:  So. Tired.  And the tatas have started to grow - that's been special ;-)

Stretch marks: No

Sleep:  Type faster so I can sleep sooner!

Best moment of this week: Getting told "You're looking big today" from a coworker.  Really?  I'm only 8 weeks...that's just my fat, lady.  Seriously though, we told the rest of the family so that was pretty fun.  Jess' grandma has already declared it's a girl and has named her.  That name is on the list but probably not the winner winner. 

What's new this week:   The baby is growing hands from it's buds, the tail is going away (whew, gonna want that to be gone), growing some lung buds, working on eye lids, and growing the colored part of the eye (please be blue, please be blue).  It's the size a raspberry...or a kidney bean depending on the pregnancy ap.

Miss anything:  Feeling awake?

Movement:  The only movement is the acid that keeps crawling up my throat...good times!

Food cravings: I haven't had any serious cravings yet - I'm kind of bummed because I thought this could be pretty funny!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  When I get sleepy and/or a headache I start to feel pretty yuck.  And early, early in the morning in the bathroom post shower with the door closed...little hot, little pukey.

Have you started to show yet:  I doubt it but apparently I'm delusional and something about me is growing...aside from my boobs. 

Gender:  It's either a boy or a girl, I think.

Labor signs: Definitely not

Belly button in or out: In

Wedding rings on or off:  On

Happy or moody most of the time:  Today, moody

Looking forward to:  Going to bed tonight!

Week 7

Gotta be quick!  It's past my bed time...and that 24 ounces of cran-grape juice I just tanked is starting to turn against me.  I couldn't help it!  It was so cold and sweet and delicious!

How far along:  7 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain: Haven't weighed.  I did put on real pants the other day instead of scrubs and jammie pants and I was pleased they still fit.  I thought the bloat was much worse than it really is!

Maternity clothes: No way Jose - still rocking regular jeans.  Hoping to get another good 12 weeks out of the regular ones...I think?

Symptoms: Early morning is when I feel the most yuck.  No serious morning sickness yet.  I'm still afraid it's coming.  Mostly same ole, same ole - tired, sore boobies, all of that.

Stretch marks: None

Sleep:  I'd like a little more but at least I'm getting more than my baby momma - two more finals then she's freeee!

Best moment of this week: Freaking out at the cost of daycare?  Is that a good moment??

Miss anything: Nah

Movement: None

Food cravings: That damn cran-grape - I went back for a second glass.  After my stomach hurt from the first glass.  It was sooooo good!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: The outcome of the cran-grape is yet to be seen...

Gender: Let's hope it's one or the other.  I've been getting a super strong boy vide.

Looking forward to: Wednesday when Jess is finished with finals and we can fall asleep together at a reasonable hour!  And telling Grandma Betty about the baby on Thanksgiving.  She's going to go nuts!!

Week 6

Today was by far one of the most insane days of my life.  Insane in a crazy surreal and awesome way.  

Today was the day of our first ultrasound.  I left work early and met Jessica there.  She starts finals tomorrow so hopefully she'll be able to concentrate after the appointment! 

I was starting to finally wrap my head around the fact that we're going to have a baby.  It's gotten easier to say "I'm pregnant"..."I'm 6 weeks 1 day into the pregnancy".  All that progress got completely derailed when I saw that little tiny flicker of the baby's heart.  And then she turned up the volume.  Single best sound I've ever heard.  I felt like I was back at square one, shaking my head in disbelief that this was all happening.  I couldn't stop staring at the screen.  It's amazing to think that all of this is going on inside of me and I feel pretty ok!

During the ultrasound we learned that the baby is measuring 6 weeks and 4 days - BONUS!  The due date has been bumped up to July 7.  Maybe we'll have a little Independence Day baby!?  Jessica says that if it's born on July 4th, we have to name it Yankee Doodle.  "But my friends just call me Dandy..."

The little lentil is working on getting some ears, a mouth, and a little tiny nose.  Little Poppy (we started calling it Poppy at week 4...when it was the size of a poppy seed) is working on getting the digestive system up and running, making a brain, muscles, bones, and some little bits that will be the lungs.  Busy week!  Good job baby!!

I'm pretty sure we floated out of there on a cloud...

The little part inside the gestational sac is the baby and the little waves at the bottom is it's heart beat.  A nice solid 119 beats per minute.

Now down to business:

How far along:  6 weeks and 4 days

Total weight gain: I think 1 pound?  But I'm bloated.  Super fun.

How big is the baby:  1/4 of an inch!  So tiny!

Compared to food: Lentil...hmmm, green lentils or red lentils.  I bet it's a beige lentil

Maternity clothes: Nope...I jumped forward a few days but not THAT much!

Symptoms:  I think I'm starting to dip my little baby toe into the morning sickness pool but no significant barfs yet.  Boobs...still hurtin'.  Tired...yup, still got that.  Heartburn...yup, some of that's getting started on a regular basis.

Stretch marks: No

Sleep:  Please sir, can I have some more?

Best moment of this week: Hands down, heartbeat :)

What's new this week:  I think the baby has a heartbeat?? 

Miss anything: Nah, I don't think I'm missing anything this week.  Sanity maybe?

Movement: No

Food cravings:  So, I go to the grocery store or I look at a food magazine...or Pinterest...and think "oooh that looks good", "oooooh, I'm gonna make some of that" but I haven't yet.  I made some carrots the other day that were the bomb - does that count?

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Just the anticipation leading up to the ultrasound!!

Wedding rings on or off:  On...except the day after we had Ramen for dinner.  It was a little snug the next day!

Looking forward to:  We finally get to tell Jessica's Grandma on Thanksgiving!  I think Jess' mom is about to explode if Grandma Betty doesn't find out soon!!
