1981 Meet 2013!

When we started planning the nursery, we thought combining storage with changing table would be the best option.  We scoured Craigslist for a decent size/decent shape dresser but kept coming up short.  We finally found a good one and asked my parents for help (and a pick up truck) to go pick it up.  My mom said - "Hey you know, I have this dresser upstairs that I'm looking to get rid of.  You can have it if you want!"  SCORE!  And the best part is - this dresser used to be in my sister's and my nurseries when we were wee sprouts.  It had some fun balloon wallpaper on the back that has now peeled off :(  Still intact inside is the awesome brown and yellow flower shelf paper.  That is staying!

Jessica was a busy bee over her winter break.  She worked her fingers to the bone revamping the dresser.  It was so sweet - she said "The whole time I was sanding and cleaning and painting...I just kept thinking of our little munchkin in here and it kept making me smile"...in unison now...awwwww!  Melting my heart

Although the gold placard knobs and pulls were super groovy, they had to go.

Let the painting begin!!

Now the dresser sat all finished up, with a fresh new bright yellow attitude, in the bedroom for quite some time.  And sat and sat.  What to do for knobs?  We had some ideas - clear bubbly ones?  Animal shaped ones?  Classic old school door knob style ones?  Ceramic ones?  I tell you...there are a LOT of knobs out there!!

And then this gem came along.  The baby's Auntie Casie SCORED these knobs at Hobby Lobby for 50% off!!  Gotta love a good deal!

Are you ready for the finished product!?  Me too!

Well, almost finished - needs 2 more knobs on the middle and bottom drawer.  Maybe they'll get on during spring break!  It doesn't matter.  I have the best furniture painting wife on the planet.

(I don't know why they look so blue in the photos...they are clear in real life.)
